Do a search for "loadomatic" and "spark control valve". There are interesting distributor and carburation issues for sixes in that era that you should know about. Too long to spit it all out, besides its been said already by others.

The pertronix II will get rid of setting gap on the points, dwell, and all that. A great upgrade, and simple. Personally, I think DS2 is better, but that is just me. I have tried both. But if you want to keep stock...Ignitor 2 is the best way to get some better drivability out of the car.

PS, I'll look for the carb stuff.

im going to get the pertronix-II and the flamethrower coil, does anyone know if there any good deals online that maybe have next day shipping cause i need my car asap

The best deals are from eBay. New stuff, better prices. OR http://www.vintageperformance.com which is not bad, pricewise. I have no idea who ships most quickly -- my local CarQuest can have one tomorrow, but it'll cost you quite a bit more.

ALSO -- you match the Ignitor to your distributor. Nevermind the year of the car. You'd be suprised how many cars are running different dizzys. If you have a vacuum only dizzy and a loadomatic carb, thats cool --- you'll need a 1266 Ignitor or 91266 for the Ignitor II (better check me on that!). www.pertronix.com is the site. Download their catalog and peruse it first.

If you intend to change to a different carb EVER, then consider an upgrade to a dual advance dizzy before you do the Ignitor upgrade. The later dizzy need a different Ignitor (shaft is "C" shaped later, as opposed to a filled in "D" shape with the loadomatic dizzys).

You really need to know if that autolite 1100 is a loadomatic or not first, as well as if your dizzy is a loadomatic. The vacuum is different. Pertronix makes the differentiation based on the presence or absence of the smog pump (thermactor), but that really doesn't tell the whole story.

DONT RUSH THIS -- YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!
