Distributor woes....

I have a 250 2V alloy head and Motorcraft distributor (82DA-12100-CA) ; the shaft is pretty loose, so much so that at the reluctor/stator end, I've got about 0.4mm radial play so my spark signal to the BIM024 is weak. I tried a DSM 'drop-in' replacement, but I ran into the shaft size issue - where the stub end on my drive is 12.43mm and the DSM unit is 13.00mm - so no go there.

Does anyone know where I can get the proper bushes for my Motorcraft unit so I can refit and ream out to size? Otherwise, is there a replacement dizzy for my smaller shaft Motorcraft? I also need a low profile one because I'm running the Redline Intake and there's bugger all clearance to get the dizzy cap on.

Cheers Ross

There were some aftermarket copies of the earlier Bosch stuff on Ebay, almost certainly a PRC copy, but they should work OK. Bosch dont make anything here anymore including the module, As to bushes, I think you would be a DIY thing. Clearance is an issue, I run a blower on my Crossflow which is tight, but your intake is on the opposite side so should be a problem.

Thanks, mate. Appreciate it. Yeah even with the standard Motorcraft unit the redline intake is very close to the top of the dizzy, so it’s a struggle to get the cap off at times. I’ll get some bronze and whiz up some new bushes for it.

You cant have a 250-2v head, the intake and exhaust is on the Australian drivers side?

Sry. It’s a X-Flow. Exhaust on driver’s side, intake passenger side. Aussie RHD
Thought so, dizzy is close, but doable, I dont think there is any dizzys or caps that will help, if its electronic, you wont need to remove it often. I can get mine off, its a bit of a technique, but will go.RIMG0169.JPG
