i see alot of talk about supercharges and have no problem with boost. but given the nature of the bix six i just wondering why not possitve dissplacement blowers. i know the stereo type 67-1 will not work on a inlinner but the concept is good. so has it never been done or what?

there are several people here currently working on setups using M90's, but as far as i know, none of them have been finished

maybe im showing my stupidity but what is a "m90" ? is that a pn or a model #

it's a type of SC
made by Eaton

hey, i just went to google and snagged the best image from "eaton m90"
it's labeled e90, and the site it's from is corvettejunk.com
sooo........
it's possible it's not

GM 3800 'Buick' V6. Aussie Holden Commodore 3800 is the same, but has a bend at the back for the air intake.

Perfect for a six!

I have a carb 83 300 and have been looking into putting an m90 on it. Im new to this but ive been doing research for a couple of months now. Yes it is very possible. The easiest way to moutn it as i figure is intake, blower, carb. This would require a hood scoop of some sort unless you mount the blower elsewhere like a centerfug. one. I have seen one pic of a guy that has one mounted next to the intake/carb. The one thing that i amhaving a slight porblem understanding is having to box the carb? LIke an airtight box or what? and what type of carb would work?

I looked at the M90 set up, but found that building the brackets and supports for it would be quite involved. I've gone full circle on my forced air decision. Started with Turbo, then PD, and Centrifugal SC, and back to Turbo now.

I'm working on the turbo now.

but, on the other side of the coin...
with a turbo, when you're cruising down I-10 in 5th gear, you've got the fuel economy of a six cyl, with the M90 it's like you've just stuffed a bigger engine in there, it's always suckin down more fuel

there's good and bad for both of 'em, it all depends on what you want

Actually the M90s use a bypass valve, on the GM ones it's built it, on the SC's it's plumbed into the inlet/outlet so when you're cruising it's supposed to only use about 1/3 of a HP (according to Eaton's website). When cruising the manifold vacuum is high, so it opens the valve and equalizes the inlet and outlet, stomp on it and the vacuum goes down and turns into positive pressure (boost) it closes the valve and starts to make boost to the intake. (At least that's how I understand it)

But I do have to agree the turbo is easier to do on our 6's, I have a M90 I came across a little bit ago, and I'd like to adapt it, but it seem like it'd be a little too much work for what I want to do.

Har! :D I'm still kicking around the idea, I guess you could say I'm torn between the 2.

Although I ALREADY have the M90, and I don't have a turbo yet. Not to mention I'm not sure what turbo would be good for a 250, most of the turbo talk around here is for 200's.
