Double roller timing set

Anyone know where to get a index-able double roller timing set? Does10 told me they didn't have anymore, and Claysmith's site no longer shows them either.

I think they were kinda' custom in a sense that no one actually makes a specific double roller timing set specific for these engines unless Mike found somebody that would make them.

Sorry but this is the exact thing I was hoping folks in AZ or wherever could help us preserve as the company closes.

Is there anyway we can capture the vender list to continue (as I believe Rich B named for me) the 'drop ship' abilities of CI. The family could continue the alu head (as it's Mike's development) but can't we go with ANY of the rest? Too late already?

Again - any energy I can provide toward this end please include me…

(I even have a barn for stock in case of other merchandizing & fulfilment methods. Not lookin 2 make money, here, just keep it goin).

Thanks -

Does10's can you give specifics i'm sure. From some of the conversations I've had with Rich, the top gear was a 302 V-8 double roller gear turned around backwards and some machining was done to make it work in the 6 cylinder. Not sure what the lower gears were from or what chain was used.

Seen some from Australia, but I can't imagine shipping costs as of right now. Might try and broach another key way into the stock gear If I can't find another solution. CI site says they were manufactured outside CI just don't know who by.

Hi Guys,
Believe it or not, I'm getting my hands on a few sets of the indexed double rollers for our 200's.
I should have them in my hands in about a week. I'll figure out pricing once I know my total with the freight charges.
Stay tuned !

the double chain set for the 200 was available from Mike. I have one on my 200 engine. It was an item I thought Mike was getting from Australia at one point.

The double set for the 250 was a custom item Does10s came up with after eating multiple chains on the turbo Falcon

You're thinking of the one that Does10's came up with for the 250.
The one for the 200 is different.

I thought he came up with a gear drive set, no chain?

The OP mentioned talking to Does10's regarding this timing set, so I naturally assumed that the engine he was referring to was a 250, since he didn't say which engine he was inquiring about.

On the Summit website they show the Comp Cam gear set 3224 fitting both the 240-300 engine and the 250, is this a mistake?

So - some how to collect this info, store it here (al la 'stickies' other sites use?) and have access.
This thread just makes it a lill confusing (to me).
Mass buys would be a first step,
our 'puter experts might be able to keep stats on what prts sell,
a 2nd step would be to return to the drop ship or warehouse ourselves…?

The US 250 has a specfic 1-3/8" crank spigot, not 1-1/4" (1.248") like the 200.

The Aussie 250 uses the smaller 200 crank spigot, so nothing fits the US 250.

There are two kinds of US timing set.

The early 250 timing set it best, but its still not wonderfull. The crank can have an offset dowel fitted to index the stock early timing chain.

After 1973, the timing was changed, but the 200 and 250 were retarded differently by the use of different timing sets. The later 250 timing set isn't very good.

The 302/5.0 OHV timing set can be usedon the US 250, but its a little work maching the crank.

There is a Diecrest gear drive that is an Australian timing gear set for the Australian tall deck 200 and related Aussie 250. Baldrick used one These are 9.38" deck engines with a smaller US 200 style crank sigot, but with a US style 250 camshaft to crank spacing. It only fits the 1.248" spigot crank.

Even if you turned down the crank, you'd then have to create a special spacer to allow the smaller crank snout to seal agaisnt the block...a very diffcult thing to do.

Mike1157 about a year ago did a Crossflow conversion on a US 250 block and got a double roller timing set or components to make one made by some one. You may be able to find his build because he gave a lot of details about it.
