Engine block/air cleaner color

Is there any significance to the color of the engine block and/or air cleaner? The 170 in my 63 Falcon is a light blue, yet all I see for other 170 equipped Falcons are red. Is mine the wrong color? Or is there some other variable I haven't come across such as options?

I think most were red and that was true of the early Mustangs too. However, I may be incorrect, but I think after 1966 they settled on Ford Blue for the engines. Some may have been black mixed in there.
I don't know the particulars.

Up through '62 the blocks were black, with red air cleaners. After that, I dunno.

original to '63 at least would be black engine/ red valve cover and air cleaner. after that would be Ford blue, but not the light ford blue, that is a '70 ( I think ) up color, b4 that a darker blue was used. Dupli color sells both colors, but most stores only stock the light blue, which is labled Ford blue, the darker stuff is labled somthing like early ford blue.

I think you have it backwards on the color, i'm pretty sure the early fords had a lighter blue, later had a darker.
