Engine swapping and general refreshing

Well got a tap on order and a bolt since the only I found was a 3 inch and that's gonna bottom out.

So waiting for the tap to come in.... The joys of waiting.

Are you planing on just chasing the threads and using the new bolt? or drilling the crank and taping a deeper set of threads

1 then the other if failing. Must cut dwn bolt a lill 1st, no?

I guess the question is what bolt did you order, longer than what you had before? I hope.

Glad you were able to find a 3 inch long 9/16 X 18 bolt. If you calculated that you need a little shorter bolt find a 9/16 X 18 nut too. Then you can tread the nut onto your 3 inch bolt to use as a guide to cut the bolt off straight with a hack saw or cut off disk to the lenght you need. Then turn the nut back towards the head so you can clean up and grind or file a very small radius on the bolt end. Next turn the nut off to chase the threads and it should be good to go. Best of luck and hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I will have an army of bolts ready. Ordered some 2.5 inch just in case. I wippcheck various bolts and see which Is best or cut if I need to. The 3 one I found isn't threaded completely, not sure if that part will even meet the threads. Merry Christmas everybody

Get everything together for the cooling such as new hoses and all that and wiring. Need to figure out if I'm going to run 3 carbs or not since hood clearance may be an issue

i forgot abt the 3 carbs.
will U use the offie?

"...to run 3 carbs or not since hood clearance may be an issue...."
if carbs R picked a measure could tell. I have 6 or 8 work-a-rounds at chrlsful@aol.com if interested in "raisin the hood" (a typical '60s/70s ford issue).
8^ )

Yeah I still have a long list of other items to finish up before worrying about that. I want to get it started and wired. Probably have to rebuild a few of the carbs anyways and need to find some linkage solutions
