So will the fan shroud that fits on the v-8's radiator, bolt right up to a stock 6 cylinder radiator without any modifications? 1966 mustang, no air, no power car.
Thanks Lowell

not without modifications. It will bolt up, but you'll need to cut access for the I-6 hose locations.

IMO, the mod isn't really needed. A proper cooling system that is in good working order will have no problems keeping the car cool.

This is the guy who boiled out his block with rust cutter, then deburred it and ran wires through all the coolant passages he could reach before he built it back up. Collected some scrap flash, chunks of rust and casting sand in the process.

That's so you know what 'good working order' means here.

You've probably never had to drive in stop and go traffic in Phoenix.

That's because you guys need to stop putting down black top roads in the middle of the desert. I've been to Pheoniz...you guys can have it. I'll take my winter blizzards.

All I can say is I've left my mustang idling for 30 minutes in 100*F weather, and it barely broke 180* with a 180* T-Stat (verified with mechanical gauge). But then again, I don't have AC or PS and not in Pheoniz. That's with the stock 4 blade fan. I personally would upgrade the fan with a flex fan before putting a shroud on. The main problem with the cooling system of the I6 is the 4 blade fan doesn't pull a lot of air across at idle. Put a Flex Fan on it and look at the difference. It'll hold a shop rag against the radiator at idle. Granted, it's a little louder, but man does it pull some air. I actually had to remove mine since it pulled too much air and wouldn't let the car warm up during the winter.

BTW, ludwig exaggerates a hair. I didn't go that insane. I only had to flush it 3 times to realize my old radiator was basically rust held together by paint. But my cooling system has been completely renewed and you can drink water out of it so long as you don't put antifreeze in.

If you had a shroud with original 4 blade fan you ma not have needed the new fan to get that kind of air flow. It would be interesting to do a back to back test with and without the shroud. Of course, the ultimate would be a thermastatically controlled electric fan that was shrouded. That way it would only run when needed saving fuel and adding HP. The HP gain would be most at high RPM. It is possible that switching to this would help you stay with a lighter 2 core when you have more cooling needs such as higher HP and AC. Has anyone compared shrouded with no shroud with no other changes?

i live in south florida and i finally had to put a bigger rad in mine. My grandfather bought the car new and said it has always gotton hot when you drive it for an extended time. So i went autozone and bought a new 6 cylinder radiator that they sell with the v8 core just 6 cylinder hose location the car barely cracks a 1/4 on the temp gauge on street or highway doing 65mph
