's 1 of the recommendations (& it fulfills the "research 1st" recommendations as well). Links & web based reading provided R free tho. No time like the present...

The common areas to look at are the floors, rockers, bottom of fenders, doors, cowl, and quarters. If there is still paint on it and no bubbling (under the paint) that would be a real good sign. Good luck

Also check for bondo! Accidents, rust and all sorts of other surprises can hide under it. If you knock your knuckles on the panel it should make a hollow sound. You can also use a magnet in spots that are too rigid for the other method.

it doesnt seem to have any bondo on it, one door was clearly replaced because it seems like it use to have chrome on it since there are holes for the strips. Also I was trying to take the front seat out and i could only get two of the four bolts out, the other two seem to be hidden between two pieces of metal, any ideas?

Check under the car some models have the bolts coming up from under neath.

That's a common problem you will need to use a hammer & body dolly or a pry bar to straighten the rails enough to get socket on it.

keep postin, even if short like this (if U got a camera).
I think U only got 4 posts to go B 4 ...PIC TIME !!!

To get the back seat out - first grab the front of the seat bottom , lift up . That is held in by a pair of brackets that push the seat bottom back under the backrest . The back rest should be held in at the bottom by two good sized screws with large captive washers [if they aren't missing] and two bent tabs [again don't be surprised if not in use] . When those are removed and loosened lift up - the upper part is held by two "hooks" attached to the body . There should be a fiberboard looking separator held in by metal tabs between the backrest and the trunk - handle with care , 51 years may have made it brittle . Watch for paperwork someone may have stuck under the seat - that could be interesting history of the car .

Sounds like you've got a good project! I agree to get it running & safe then you can start on making it look good. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

back to general direction, end goal, application.
Every financial cost and labor input is best devoted if going toward that final app.

Made a decision to go w/the "stock, low maintenance" (that's: fuel, tires, tuning, general upkeep, etc) or something else? Don't forget this is a bit of "a system" where every part effects the other (enhancing or detracting from the whole)...

"...There is a wagon out near the farm too. Could use it for a parts car but im not sure what parts would be the same...."

What yr, what motor/transmission?
"...Get the Vin Code Under hood near edge of fender next to the coil spring tower and Door Tag info (on the drivers side) for both that will help..."
We can help U ID the info on BOTH vehicles, if needed, after U get this info. B sure U got it - cuz what folks have told ya, how it wuz registered last, etc can B way off. When tryin to place prts on or rehab prts U want this info so U don't try to use incompatable prts. THIS is ONE of the FIRST Steps. Also @ some point due to the ability to swap out most prts (inc motors, transm, rear ends) we should look @ the casting #s on intakes etc. U R very fortunate to have a possible prts car w/yer sedan. I'd build the wagon (but that's me only) even if the body were worse than the sedan!

I dont know anything about the wagon, my dad just showed it to me one time when we were out snowmobiling. we have to contact the person that owns it before we can do anything with it.
