WOOOHOOO! I haven't even washed my hands yet. I just hooked up the new duraspark distributor and module. WOW. It fired right up and idled smooth as silk on a cool rainy morning without the choke. Usually I have to choke it till it starts, then half choke till it warms up, and it still would die when i put it in gear unless I kept my foot on the gas. Not any more. I just hit the key and it's running.AND I haven't even put the timing light on it yet.(can't find it) As soon as I find my light I'll hook up the white wire for the initial retard and fine tune it. AHHH, no more pinging. I would highly recomend this as a first upgrade for these old cars. I think I'll be doing the master cylinder next.

Just had to tell someone. My wife just doen't get it.

Great upgrade no-doubt! I love mine to death. Now for some induction perhaps? I still have to send you some sound bites-I have dial-up so I'll have to do it from work when I have a moment.

Congrates Cecil! This was the first upgrade I performed to my car when I bought it three years ago. And yes, it made a BIG difference!

Don't stop now!

Congrats!
I can't emphasize enough the importance of upgrading points and condensers type ignition on these cars. Electronic ignitions (the DSII is my favorite) make such a great difference with stock engines, but they also help alot with modified ones. And if you bump the compression up later on, a good ignition will allow appropiate firing of the denser mixture.

jUST FOR THE NEW GUYS: How much did it cost you? Everyone will do it.

I bought everything new at autozone because I couldn't find it at my favorite junk yard.
The whole shebang was just about $125
new dizzy - 49.95 +10.00 core
cap and rotor set(good one w/brass terminals)20bucks
cap adaptor -8.00or9.00 I think
plug wires - 20something
module - 17
Wife no longer rolling her eyes and shaking her head - priceless 8)

Hey John G. good to hear from ya. Induction is in the back of my mind but first I want to get rid of that fruit jar master cylinder.

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR THE HELP.
