Harmonic balancer sleeve... where can I get one?

My harmonic balancer has a groove worn into it where the crankshaft seal should go. My dad says I can get a sleeve and put on it and that will make it seal right. Does anyone know where I can get the sleeve, or if it is possibile to use a sleeve on it?

Just checked Autozone.com and supposedly they can order it. We also have a good independant parts store in town that will hopefully have it in stock.

Has anybody used one before? What is the "installation tool" thats needed?

I used one on a 79 Chevy 400 SB. It worked great, but I don't remember what the tool was. Maybe a thicker plastic sleeve to help push it on.

I had one that came with a timing cover gasket set. It came in a little bag with a tube of red locking compound. All I had to do was clean the mating surfaces of oil, apply the locking compound, slide the sleeve into place (no tools required) and let it set up. It has worked beautifully on my brother's 200 mustang.

Strangely, it didn't come with instructions, or even anything to identify what it was for.

Ordered the sleeve on Friday but didn't get it in time to install it this past weekend. It will hopefully be waiting for me this next weekend though :)

It cost me $8.99 at the Twilight Zone. The independant store only sold it as part of a timing cover gasket kit and I already had a gasket set.
