Hasa68mustangs official turbo post (not in lounge...)

I had to ride a bike once with flat tires to catch my cat that escaped my house. Damn cat. Theyre hard to find, once they get out.

Had to sit there for 20 minutes indian style, talking to him, before he lunged into my arms. He was gone for 6 days, man he was hungry.

I miss that little guy.

OK OK, yeah I just realized....shhhhh for me.

ITS HERE!!!!! after a month of waiting or something it finally got here... in amassive box.. the mail-lady couldnt carry it so I did for her... I opened it and its sooo tiny... I will take some pics and take down the numbers on it and maybe do some measurements... any suggestions on anything? gimme a couple hours and Ill tell you guys how it runs... lol I Wish...

o.k. well as most of you know I have gotten a whole lotta nothing done since I got the turbo so over this past weekend I decided HEY I have this weekend with no work soooo after a long awaited time here it is. The worlds only turbocharged inline 6 68 mustang, :D . right now I have the flange welded to the exhaust manifold, the exhaust outlet of the turbo welded backwards so the exhaust goes out the back instead of out to the front of the car  , I made the pipe for the BOV and got it mounted, I ran most of the vacuum lines, I have the piping setup but not yet clamped down. lets see... ummm I need to make a quick exhaust, run the oil/water lines, and ummm do something about the timing and then boost reference the fuel pump... and because the dyno broke the day after my car did they rescheduled it for saturday, I am about 90% sure I dont work saturday but theres no guarentees, if I dont my goal is to infact dyno the car at 7 psi, I need my timing chain and maybe a boost gauge... hmmm I have no money so I continue to borrow it from my dad... heres some pics... I didnt have my camera tonight to get some of the piping and BOV, ill for sure get them tomorrow!

you kow it is so nice making the plunge!!

I had min etogether and running in no time....but took forever to make it a driver since I had to fab up the throttle somehow when I converted to the holley.

looking pretty good there T-Bone!!

I am still questioning the MIG'd up mani though....who knows maybe you will not have any issues with it.

so gonna have it running this weekend then huh?

you will be amased how much faster it can get on a jet change. if I jhave mine up 1-2 sizees on the rich side it is a dog.....drop it down and it really starts to move.

I also have to rig up some kind of cable throttle setup as the turbo and all piping is directly in the way... I'll look at it better tonight though. I have a huge list of stufff to do tonight written on my hand, oh and buy cheddar cheese-its because their good, ya so run all the lines, bolt it all up, do the timing, fuel and adjustments and she'll be on the road. and another good thing about the dyno is I'll get a/f readings and it should be good!

What this setup is consists of what I like to call stage 1 no intercooler, or anything, I finally got some pics of the stup and BOV in place, I started working on the exhaust I welded up a down pipe, now I am going to throw something together, not sure what probably a single sidepipe going out the passenger side, something liek lincs running I believe. I am waiting for my dad to help me out with the oil/fuel lines, and the timing. hmmm I Think thats about it for now... so heres the newest pics.

Man, that looks good. Makes me want to turbo my bird.

I am pretty sure thats how it all started with me, except with mustangaroo and his supercharger, then I realized I couldnt buy one for half of what it was going to cost me to turbo my car so I happened to find my turbo/intercooler for $101 shipped on ebay and I couldnt pass it up, then I bought the BOV for 50, and the carb hat for I believe $60 with shipping (my dad bought it for me) then I bought the nitrphyl (sp) float and jet extensions for $20

j/k

I might be off my stage one in a week or so

oh... oh ya well your just jealous that my BOV has 2 vacuum line things and yours only has 1!

actually I am more jealous of the purple color :P

yeah can't beat turbo's for cost.

I think I paid $120 for my T3

total cost in materials for me is maybe $500

Yeah, I might start looking around see what I can find. I've been thinking about nitrous lately though....

So is she running?? Well it looks good, and if it is please post a vid ( if you can ) Love the look.

I wish! dont worry there will be plenty of videos, I got the pump referenced, and ran the oil line to the turbo, I still need to do something about the timing, and the return line, I also bought everything to do the water cooling hoses but one thing wont be here till thursday, I welded a little more onto my downpipe and got my old exhaust apart to make a sidepipe for the car... I think thats it... I may try to weld up my timing chain cover as a temporary thing to get the beast started... but I THINK I have to work tomorrow.. I made a HUGE mistake... I originally thought I was supposed to start my job tomorrow, so I go out my schedule and saw wednesday then happened to notice that HEY I was supposed to work yesterdya... so I immediately called and explained the situation to the produce manager who got a kick out of it... and said that I shoudl call first thing tomorrow morning and explain what happened... so hopefully I have a job... if not what the heck I still will have a turbocharged 6 banger mustang! we'll see even then I dont start until 7 pm so I coudl at least get a little bit done...

Looks like good progress.

Don't use a cotton-gauze "K&N" style air filter, they let WAAAAY too much dirt past.

do you mean a K&N ripoff or just that style of filter? Thanks, oh and I called this mornign and the scheduling manager was laughing and siad so pretty much your calling to say you missed monday and your sorry, and I said exactly, and she laughed a little more and said just to come in today and we'll forget abotu what happened so I still have my job but HOPEFULLY it wont interfere with the dyno day/turbo progress...
