Seeing your turbo setup come together really makes me want to throw a turbo in my mustang.... can't resist the urge.... but too many projects..... :D

well I bet you guys are all wondering how it did on its first drive... how fast really is the worlds fasest turbo I6 68 mustang? actually I got more of a thrill moving the electric wheelchair at publix 15 feet :? well I have some kind of fuel problem, I dont know what exactly it is but I have fuel at the filter but it backfires through the carb under a load and accelerating... I got it to about 30 in the parking lot and then when I let off there it was, psssssst, it was awesome... and my exhaust is rather quiet... and tomorrow I work from 4 to 7:30 which stinks... they love making me work daytime hours or hours just after I get off school... oh well in the end it should be worth it... the only thing I can come up with was maybe I am having the old fuel evaporating problem... it get amazingly hot under there.... I will see aout setting the level up and I did get it to idle o.k. it was just that it was cold I am thinking... ummm so ya anyone got any Ideas?

well is it idling correctly now?
yup, but the fuel problem has me wondering... it really feels as if it want to take off but it wont.. itll start to move then backfire... ill have to go look at it over the weekend where there is light...

You NEED a fuel pressure gauge!!!! That will show all kinds of information.....

ya I am looking into it, I know it has fuel as I have a clear filter and it stays full so I dont know if its just the float level or what but I am going to look into it tomorrow as I have most of the day off!

You have experienced helpers offering advice. You would do good to slow down and listen before you fry some pistons and maybe a head gasket.

The fuel filter will not tell anything about the mixture. You need a fuel pressure guage. Preferably one with an isolator so you don't have a pressurised fuel line in the driver compartment.

woah there guys I was simply stating that it had fuel, nothing about having fuel pressure, as for the pistons and headgasket I made a couple of laps just testing if it started to lean out I would let off, I did it a couple of times to make sure it was infact what it was doing, and I dont want this to come as a smart remark or me coming off at you guys, I completely respect you guys and what you know. I asked my dad and he has a fuel pressure gauge that I can use temporarily till I get my own. I'll let you guys know what I find out tomorrow. Tommy

Remember, on blow through you add base fuel pressure to boost pressure to get total (what the gauge is reading).

If you have 6 psi base pressure, and add 10 psi boost you should see 16 psi on the gauge.

If you are running 10 psi boost and only see 12 psi on the gauge, you are about to have a big bang.

and what do you mean by power valve cr's?

these:

To get more fuel under boost, you have to drill these.
Going to bigger main jets will hurt gas mileage at cruise.

sorry for no update/videos, but work and school takes up alot of time... well I solved some problems and caused a new one... well I got the car running a little better and discovered my taking off was a timing/float issue, and drove it to school. everything seemed o.k. but the cars idle was still a little sketchy. so while leaving school it was feeling really good so I got on it a bit and the tires broke loose and I didnt feel the need to let them stop so soon so I got on it more and roasted them for a good while then pop, and a backfire... scared the poop out of me, the car was whistling whenever it was making boost and wasnt running for anything... so I started it at home and kept it running while my dad sprayed carb cleaner around the carb... I blew the gasket out of the back of the carb, and while taking the carb off noticed that I, in the rush I was in, forgot to put a gasket between the carb and spacer and it was leaking there so thats where I believe the bad idle was from originally, while driving down the road going to school boost is only a slight push of the pedal away... it really goes from 55 or 60 and theres VERY little lag from a stop with the small turbo... and when I say very little I mean it... I Was on my way to making a video of the car when the gasket blew out but It'll get it back on tomorrow and see when I can borrow my friends camera again! :D

Great setup! I'm in college right now for Automotive Technician degree. That is a vewry commen thing to find that if you get into a rush you for get important things. BTW where did you get the Turbo set up and how hard was it to put in? any thing that you had to change to the internals of the engine? I want to do this to my bone stock 200 six on about a year once i get into to the Advance Engine Performance class at school. What would i be looking for in a price range and what kind of turbos work?

I cant wait to here your car run!

Ryan
