Header bolts

Besides the locking header bolts offered by Mike at Classic Inlines, where could I get header bolts for our six? Will any Ford V-8 header bolts work?

I think almost ALL domestic header bolts are 3/8" coarse thread. they come in either 3/4" or 1" lengths for the most part. get a v8 set and have a couple spares for when you drop them on the ground when you are installing them :D

Personally, I'd get the header studs. THey were much easier to install as the clearance can be very tight on the headers. I just got standard Ford V-8 Studs from a local performance shop.

Really...I was thinking that would be harder, but I haven't done this in a long time so I am definitely open to anything that would make this easier. Aren't some of the lower header bolts, especially the number 1 pipe, a really tough one to get started? I thought that the stud might hit the pipe and make it very difficult to get the nut on. Do you just barely catch the header on the stud so the stud is just barely protruding past the flange and then get the nuts started and begin evenly tightening them down? What is the best procedure? Thanks.

Gene I use 3/8 x 1" stainless allen bolts on the 302 in my truck just for looks. I do have one hole that has a bolt because the tube covers it. I've found it dosen't really matter what style you use as long as they fit correctly. The best secret I've found for header bolts is put 3 wraps of teflon tape on whatever bolts you use. This will keep them from backing out and keeps them from siezing in the hole when you do want them to come out.
