Header Gasket

Guys I know that this has been asked before but my header gasket blew. What gasket should I replace it with? Thanks in advance John.

to stop just about any exhaust leak, get the stock napa gasket, then apply copper RTV to both sides of the gasket and be VERY generous, get it nice and thick. then reinstall manifold and tighten everyday for the first week, soon your exhaust problems will disappear.

I did this on my cast monifold (when I had one) as it leaked what seemd every month, finally applied some and never had a leak after, and now with CI header I can say that from day 1 I've NEVER had a leak.

Copper RTV autozone sells it for like $10 a tube, you only need one tube cause you'll never use it again.

yes it's that good...

guys it is a stock 68 head and a cliffy header.mpg thanks probably will give this a shot as it is cheaper than the cliffy gasket.

Say Richard...I've always used the Hooker header gasket with no problems and no sealer...Summit sells them. What's it like trying to remove when you use the RTV on it?

come to think of it, I never had to remove it, i just gave the engine with the old manifold to the engine builders. I've never had to remove it with that RTV on there...

all i know is the manifold never leaked again, and the header has never leaked since day one...

Edit: I'd imagine it's just caked on, should be easy to peel off as it should be dry
Edit: come to think of it, the header might be more flat than the manifold, so it' might be why you've never had a problem.
