Help, Oil blowing out of breather

Albert,

One of the other PCV systems I recall seeing used two tubes. Mostly found on V8 engines, though, on opposing valve covers.

One is hooked to the inside of the air filter chamber, with no valve. Other hose is plumbed to the inlet manifold itself.

The idea is that when the manifold vacuum is incapable of purging the vapours, they are drawn through the "free" line into the air filter's chamber, and as manifold vacuum increases, the PCV does its thing, and the unvalved line reverses flow, and merely provides a feed source of clean cooler air, helping keep temperatures down also.

Does this make some sense?

Regards, Adam.

HELLO WINGSPAN.

YOU CAN TRY A VERY EASY FIX. GET A BREATHABLE OIL FILLER HOLE CAP THAT HAS A FITTING ON THE SIDE. HOOK A HOSE TO THE FITTING AND PUT YOUR PCV VALVE IN THE OTHER END AND THEN PUT ANOTHER HOSE ON TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THAT WILL WORK. I'VE DONE THAT TO AND OLD 1966 250 CHEVY. IT TOTALLY STOPPED MY OIL BLOW-BY. (THE HIGH SPEED BLOW-BY WOULD BLOW ALL MY OIL OUT, AND LOSE GASKETS)

THE CAP HAS TO BE BREATHABLE. IT WOULDN'T WORK WITH THE SEALED CAP.

IF THIS DOSEN'T WORK THEN IT SHOULDN'T BE A PRESSURE PROBLEM. IT'S HAS TO BE SOMETHING ELSE.

LOTS OF LUCK....LOL

It sounds like this is a common problem.

Leroy, could you describe your setup again? I got lost as to were the second hose to the manifold was installed and does this new breather cap with the fitting go to the stock PCV grommet at the other end of the valve cover.

My thoughts exactly. I bought a breather with a fitting on it a few days ago to try. :D

While reading this it reminded me of something on my 81 Granada with a 200/auto. For some reason oil was puddling in the pan where the air filter sat. I'd clean it out and it wouldn't take long to start collecting. I replaced and checked the PVC valve, and afew other things. Nothing seemed to change that.

Man I miss that car.......a shame it went away long ago.
