Hello,

I have a recently rebuilt 200 with new headers and flowmaster exhaust (dual). The car sounds great but a dissapointment when it comes to power. What else can I do? I would like to explore upgrading the carb/intake manifold to 2V and possibly converting to electronic ignition.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

well as you know the intake is part of the head so carb swaps are a bit of work. you could look into swapping on a larger 1bbl carb or a 2v adaptor

Cam it up. Ignition first (DS-II or better) but then the cam, timing set and valve springs. It won't run lean or ping - the constraints will be headflow... Then if you do uprate the induction, your block is set to cope well. People look at headers from the V-8 perspective and there are other initial limits on these sixes, in comparison.

Regards, Adam.

Stovebolt has the adapter for about $15. and rebuilt carbs(Holley/Webbers) for about $60. With a little grinding on the adapter base it just bolted on.

The electronic ignition helped a bit with idle but I needed a carb which made my car have a rough idle anyway, but the ignition will help with what you chose later on.

What else can I do?

How much can you spend? Thats really what it all comes down to. The setup I am running now has greatly improved performance over stock... my next upgrade is going to be a cam, then who knows what.
