This is the proto type (fins still need to be polished). Production covers should be ready in a couple months. Were working on it. Price will be in the $150 range.

This also reminds me of another item. I had someone request an alloy oil pan similar to the old Corba ones. Would you guys like to see one and would you pay $300-400 to purchase one? I'm just starting to get some quotes, but that's what the V8 pans go for.

thats the one, ya-baby! will it be aussie 250 2V friendly? or will it have to be "trimmed" to seat on the head?

Nope, no trimming. The rim is there to add strenght to the steel ones. Alloy covers don't have a rim, as they don't need them.

As far as the oil pan goes.. Hell Yes, since there is apparently no other source for high capacity oil pans. Granted, they wouldnt be a big seller.. but when you go spending a couple thousand dollars... nice to keep it alive as long as possible, but personally... I'd prefer sheet metal to cast, but thats just me

OK, someone enlighten me, I don't quite get it.
Does the extra oil in large capacity pans and filters have any more value than as a "reserve". It would seem the extra oil stays in the extra volume created by the larger unit. It doesn't flow any differently or cool any "better" does it?
Or is its value more for extreme, ie. racing applications?
It would seem that some kind of windage tray/scraper mods to our existing pans would yield significant results at a much cheaper cost, especially with the availablility of old pans out there that can be had for reconditioning.
No "wow" factor though.

I think he should quit teasing us with a valve cover on a headless motor..I guess Halloween is coming up and that is kinda frightening.. I give it a 7 (on scale of 1-10 with 10 being scariest)

I thought the value of a larger pan was to have more oil available to put put through the motor. i.e. you cant put MORE oil in the motor itself but the same oil goes through the motor less often (I hope that makes sense). AND that with the additional reserve hanging out below the car it cools off a bit more then with a standard pan.

Pretty.

I think I know what color my engine is going to be now.

That's awsome Mike. I'll be right in line for a valve cover once they're ready.

Personally I'm not real excited about the oil pan.
