I am cleaning and painting various parts for the re-install of my 200 and I have a question about the motor mounts for my 65 Mustang....

These are practically brand new, only about 1600 miles on them, when I had them installed (by a local shop, while I was on vacation) the shop guys put two large hardened washers on each side between the rubber mount and the mounting bracket....

I think these should not be there? Does anyone else have washers in there? I think they installed these to help the fan clear the automatic tranny cooling lines into the radiator thus lifting the front of the engine about 1/4 inch.... since I am not running tranny lines anymore I do not need that lift, can I remove these? I think the mounts would work better with complete contact?

I only have the washer on the nut side (bottom of the mounting bracket). YOu do need them on the bottom, but not on the top if you don't need the clearance.
