Hopefully...

Now that the Mustang is driveable with a cable throttle I can take it out on the road! Yay. :D I just installed a bench seat two days ago and I love it. Why would I be a hit a car shows? I think you fellow I6ers know. How many V8's does one see at cars shows? Too many (especially Mustangs)! Throw in a Mustang with a modified I6 and a bench seat and you have yourself a Mustang that really stands out! I am going for my first test drive today. We will see how the new carb does. :D
 
Our modified I6's really are attention getters at shows.

There is one weekly cruse-in in my area every Saturday night, so I finally got my car to the point where I could take it last night.

There were about 7 or 8 other Mustangs and they were all bent 8's. Since my car is still so rough, I didn't pop the hood but a few people made comments when I pulled in and none of them would believe it was a 6 by the sound.

The only other modified straight six there (and it was the first time I ever saw it around) was a Rambler. Man that thing sounded healthy! Too bad I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I only heard him as he drove by leaving...

I'm hoping my mustang will be drivable again by summer's end in time for the late season shows...

Yeah...basically. Just going slow so far. Little mistakes here and there. This is the one area that the Shop Manual is very very vague and poorly put together in my opinion. They do not give a lot of information about rear end replacements.

But on top of the V-8 T5, there is the new flywheel, clutch, cable clutch set up, pulling the headers to fix the port divider, and replacing the front end with V-8 set up (drums, spindles, steering, and sway bar).

So far, I have the 8" in place, but still need to reinstall the axles for the 4th time and need new housing gaskets for it. After I get the gaskets, I can start putting the new brakes put on the rear end.

The front end will be much easier since I have a complete set of 68 spindles and drums with less then 3k miles on since rebuild. Those will hold the place until I can rebuild the 65 GT disc brakes that are sitting in my garage.

I'm taking some time off from work in July, so that's when I'll likely get the bulk of the work done.

Yeah.

The Epoxy that I used on my log head (worked great) didn't hold up well in the Aussie head. Biggest problem was there are no ridges in teh aussie head 3-4 port, so the epoxy was just to fill it in. So I think it couldn't handle being as structural. I used real high temp epoxy (2300*F) not, JB Weld. SO, I'm probably going to pull it out and leave it out.

I'd love to take my Mustang to some of the local car shows. I heard they're even going to have a car show at the Air Force Base I am stationed at. The only problem is that I am here in Iraq. I'll have to wait till I get back to take it to car shows.
So far everything is going well here. I am bending wrenchs with some of the best in the Air Force and I am gratefull to call them my friends. There haven't been any attacks here, but the Army base down the road has taken a few hits and lost a few good soldiers. My thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and families. It'll be a while before our group gets up out of here, so keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I look forward to reading your posts and seeing you Arizona folks real soon.
