After months of talking with a foundry here in Buenos Aires I recieved a package in the mail today with my first sample head (for those who don´t know, I´m still in Argentina). Inside - a brand new SP (Special Performance) casting (only 5 days old!!!). So far I am very impressed with the quality. The head is ready to run with just some valve hardware. It has the valve seat inserts and guides already fitted (bronze on the exhaust), all bolt holes and water fittings drilled, tapped, and cleaned, the springs seats are already machined... it´s gorgeous.

I am meeting with the company in person next week to discuss getting 15 of these on a boat towards the states. I have different sources for exhaust headers, but still haven´t made a deal to have some intake manifolds made. Original SP intakes are very scarce.

A couple weeks ago I also found a piston manufacturer for the TC racers here and I picked up a set of these forged beauties:

The sweet deal with these are the strength in the design combined with light-weight, floating pin, and different pin height configurations available. I´m looking at using 2.0L and 2.3L Pinto rods with the shorter pin pistons. Combined with the SP head it should make a screamer out of a 200 engine.

WOW! :x :x :x

Even though I am building a crossflow, that makes me want one. LOL

Any idea how much they will be selling for???

Yeah baby!

At last, rather than wait for Clifford, just grab a supply and do some network marketing.

Well done, we're lovin' it!

Very interested if the price is right  let me know, I don't care about an intake even, I would like to build my own.

And I'm not in any rush either.

See Ya,
Mike

More pics please

I would like to see the exhaust ports and did they make any changes compared to the original castings

How would these be for forced air applications and what advantages over an aussie 2v head (i don't know if it would be worth the switch)

thanks

John

Yum. If I didn't already have an Oz head from Mike.... Yum

Ok guys, I have some more pictures and info. The design is a perfect replica of the original Sprint head. Nothing was changed.

The head flows great naturally aspirated, but it is ideal for forced induction and fuel injection conversions. There are 3 major improvements over the Aussie 2V head:

1) The split center exhaust ports
2) Exhaust ports are all direct exiting. This allows much more flexibility in porting.
3) The intake manifold allows for use of a Holley 2 bbl carburetor without adapter or improper fuel distribution due to the throttle shafts running perpendicular to the crank.

Ruckus, maybe you thought the exhaust was similar to the Aussie heads? I hope these pics clear things up.

There is a lot of room for porting on these. I will be getting some flow bench numbers of a stock and modified SP heads up soon.

I can´t set any prices yet, because I don´t know what the end price is going to cost me. I still need to get 15 sets of headers on a boat, and find someone to cast intake manifolds either here or in the states.

The pistons are already available.

Amazing, simply amazing !!!! Way to go John!!!

BTW I've noticed that those Argie pistons have a "pointy thing" on the dome, what is it for???

Again, great work!!! Give my regards to Martin!!!!

INLINER, the pistons are IASA or IAPEL??

the 200 block is similar to the 188/221?? maybe you can put ERCOLI or SAENZ rods, i dont know prices but are really expensive, BUT those beauties are indestructable.

i forgot, for the exhaust headers the BEST is BENINI ESCAP (www.beniniescap.com.ar) i think the header costs over 300 PESOS, also you have SILENCARLOS (they have a store in villa ortuzar).

Yayo,

Thanks for the link. Pistons are IAPEL. Really nice people there. I highly recommend them. The 200 is shorter than the 188/221 block. I looked at the SAENZ rods, but I think I have found a better alternative with some 2.3L rods.

can you use the peugeot 404/504 rods??? some people uses those rods in the 221 to make it 4 litres.

the IAPEL are EXCELENT pistons, lot better than iasa to me, i have some friends with fiats and ford engines with turbo/nitrous, and have a great performance.

PD: you went to galvez??

Yayo,

Haven´t been to Galvez yet.

I looked at the Peugeot rods, but the Lima rods are a much closer fit.

mattri,
The Argie does flow better than the Aussie 2V from what I have read. I almost got a Argie head before I got my Aussie 2v head, In stock form both heads are very close, but I would give the edge to the Argie, but most of the hipe about the HP from Argie heads is if they are using very large cam's and pushing them to 7,000 - 8,000 RPM to get that HP. You will break the Bank here in the States getting your 200 SIX to stay together for any lenght of time at 7,000 RPM and up! And you should probably forget about it being a daily driver.

 Having said all this before someone jumps me! I think both heads are great and depending how much engine building you are planning, a mild build will yield about the same HP, a Wild build the Argie may do more than a Aussie 2v, but I'd bet they would still be very close with the same engine work being done to both! But then again this is only my opinion. 8) and your mileage may vary!
