Multiple carb air cleaners

I have a 1966 Ford mustang with a 200 inline 6. I am running 3 Autolite 1100's on an Offenhauser triple one barrel intake. I can not find any air cleaners that will fit the Autolite 1100's, and still fit under the factory hood. Does any one have any ideas?

I am running K&N filters on mine part number rc-2440.they have a molded bottom and secure with a stainless steel clamp. you can get on thier site and search by size. http://www.knfilters.com/search/univround.aspx. just as a note some of the filters on the list do not have a chrome top and some have a angle or offset bottom but it gives all that info in the discription.

looks like 1 7/8" at the smallest point , where the hood brace crosses over the center air filter. I am not sure how tall the 1100s are but for comparison the webers i run are 4 3/8 " tall from the base to the top of the air horn.

I don't know what his personal beef w/ K&N is, but they come highly recommended by several people I know. However, they are expensive AND you have to clean them out periodically. Standard paper filters are one-time throw away objects. If you don't do the periodic maintenance on a K&N filter, they will fail. That and how much they cost.

yeah, ive never heard anything bad about K&N filters before, except the price. but if you take care of them they're supposed to last the life of the car, my dad has had the same filter on his suburban since he bought it back in 2001.

i was just wondering if he had had a bad experience with K&N, because im considering buying some for my tri-power.

The only deal I have with K&N is that they don't filter as well as a paper filter. And on modern cars, they foul out mass air sensors quickly because of the oil. Plus the cost.

Wallaka is right. But to elaborate on my research...
I have a friend that builds racing motors for trucks when he was in the mid-west (where its nice and dry and sandy) and he continually had guys come in with blown turbos. So, he put 2 and 2 together and found out that the K&N filter wasn't filtering out the particles like it needed to, and the particles were getting into the turbo and blowing chewing the insides up.

Here are a few sites that will talk more about it.

Yes K&N filters will give you more power, but only bc they allow more air (and dirt) into the engine.
Also, to those people who have had both K&N and paper filter... Do you have to clean the K&N filter as often as you had to replace the paper filter?
