I went today and bought the '66 200 short block today, when I got it home and was going to put it on the engine stand I discovered it lacks the lower right bell housing hole  the ear is broken off.

Can I have a new ear welded on? (If I can get one)

Or could I grind the spot smooth and drill and tap a hole to mount a heavy peice of angle iron to the block and then just use a bolt with a nut in that hole?

Thanks,
Mike

Is this one of the ones with an alignment pin hole also? If so, you want to think hard about using it. If not, then a good welder will be fine. The final dress of the new repair should be done by a skilled hand.

Regards, Adam.

8) Look for a certified welder to do this cast repair! Or grind it clean and kame up something from channel stock or angle iron.

I have to give this little motor a chance, I think I'll try and make a piece to fit and bolt it on with a couple of grade 8 bolts.

As always a snap a couple of pics for everyone.

See Ya,
Mike
