Okay I've had it. My Motorcraft 1 bbl,. has acted up too many times. One day it running absolutely perfect, then BAM. It can't keep an idle. I'll set the idle RPM alittle high to keep it from stalling at red lights and you should hear it. It reaves up and down all by itself. I 've checked the choke setting, vacuum leaks and the only thing that is suspect is the linkage in the rear of the carb. This linkage goes in two directions and the throttle linkage is effected by it's action. First, if anyone has a viable sulution.. I'll listen. Second, and I know I've mentioned it before. Purchasing a NEW Carb. that will fit the configuration of my '64 Comet I6 200 engine. My throttle linkage goes parallel with the block right to the middle of the carb.. I purchased two Holleys off Ebay I can't use because of the set-up. So, can anybody suggest a quality carb. for my car? If anyone has one to sell or would consider the two Holleys as part of a deal...Please reply...Thanx..ZZ

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the stupid accelerator cable!! Mine was old and had a crack in the plastic liner, this let moisture get in and gummed up the movement of the cable. Replaced the cable and now no problem. I realize most sixs have a rod type linkage but mine is all cable. It could also be a bind in the throttle linkage. Boy I searched all over before I found my problem!!!!

The linkage to the carb. is not a problem. It's the linkage itself on the carb. and on this carb there is a dual purpose linkage located on the backside. ..ZZ
