Oil Question?

I have a recently rebuilt 200 ( about a 1000 miles) That has developed what sounds like a slight valve tick, I pulled the cover and started it there is a good stream of oil down each rod and a small trickle out the front of each arm onto the valve. Is this normal or should there be more oil out the front of the arm? Oil pressure is 60 cold and 40 hot, I used the turned down headbolt in # 11. Thanks for any response,

An exhaust leak can sound like a ticking lifter.....
Take a hose and put one end to your ear and move the other end around the motor and see if you can pinpoint the noise.

Thanks for the reply, but I was asking if anyone has had the valve cover removed on a 200 and started the engine. At idle is there just a small trickle of oil from the front rocker port? Thanks

That sounds about right. To check for a ticking lifter, press down on each rocker arm above the lifter while it's running. The ticking should stop when the correct rocker arm is depressed. If you don't find anything, it's something else.

Thanks, It was a sticky lifter , I went ahead and pulled the oil pan just to make sure all was ok, so I will feel better eliminating bearing or rod problems, Thanks again this is a great resource.
