Opening the car throat from 1.5 to 1.75"

I was considering opening the log throat to 1.75" like the 250 models.

Can I use the same carb...or will I need another type and style. I would prefer not to use an adapter.

Open for suggestions or comments.

It should not be a problem but you may not see a benefit unless running a bigger carb.

I have a ported and polished 66 head that I opened up and have a carb adapter to install a Holley 350cfm 2bbl.

Yeah....thats my Idea... I have the 1101 now....so what is the carb you have....or is it not the next setp up....

Are you talking about putting on a bigger carb or opening the diameter on the air cleaner?

I want to open the stock log from 1.5 to 1.75"...if I do...will I need a different carb.... I am using the 1101 now...

I dont want to use the adapter to fit the 1101 to the larger opening, I wont have enough room for the current air cleaner...

I've got an Australian 200 Log head from 1972-73 and was able to open it up to just over 2 inches, although in hindsight, I should have left a bit more for gasket sealing. I braised a bit of plate on to correct this. As for performance, with the stock carby, it made little difference but with a larger carby, and a set of extractors, it will be worth it.
