Is there a trick or something to get that thing out. I tried for about 45 minutes earlier today to get it out, because my grandparents bought me the stuff i needed to finish the T-5 swap, but i cant get the darn pilot bushing out! Somebody please help me!!

Here's how I've done it: Fill the whole area behind the bushing full of grease. I mean full! Until you have grease all the way out to the end of the bushing. Now, take a socket that fits in the hole, about 1/2" should do it. Put an extension on the end of it. Strike it with a hammer. The hydraulic force will pop the pilot bushing right out!

The more snug the socket fits in the hole, the better. You don't want it so tight that it binds, though. Best to find the socket you want to use before you pack the whole thing with grease - Good Luck!! :D

Thank you very much!!! Al told me that a while back, but it was on the old forum, so it got lost when the forum crashed. And i couldnt remember what he had said. Thank you!!

8) you can also use a tap of the correct size, you want a starting tap, and wind it out.

I have never had any luck with the grease. If a slide hammer will not get it out I just take my die grinder and grind it down in two places(don't go through to the crank) and then tap it with a hammer and punch to break it in half. That will work everytime.

The hardest I ever pulled had to be cut out. But have had real good luck with tap, bolt and grease.
Run a starting tap, follow w/ a bottoming tap. Pack w/ grease or 90 wt gear oil, full, NO AIR. Then screw in the appropiate size bolt. Use air wrench if you got it. Hydraulics usually pops it right out, if not, when the bolt bottoms against the crank it is forced out mechanically.
