Which brand (if there is more than 1) of head gasket to use on my 200?

It is a basic fresh build, cast pistons, ARP bolts / stud kit. D8 log head will be on the engine, Pacemaker header, C-4 trans , 3.55 rear gear.

I bought a 280* camshaft from Mike way back when this was to be a turbo engine... that project engine is now dead. A basic fresh 200cid engine, .030 over is under construction now.

Smaller camshaft will be needed

Just a street driven engine now.

Crosley probably the 264 from Mike or a similar cam seems to be a god balanced street cam.

Some of us should be hitting the hay about now. Just look at the quality of our work.

If you dont wanna buy a new cam buy a set of rhoadslifters. They are geat from what I hear you will have a 268 cam at idle and part throttle but it will scream with the 280 duration at high rpms.

Crosley-

I just last week measured a FelPro head gasket at .045" thickness before crushing,so .040-.042 would be a good number on that one.
As for camshaft selection you are correct about "less is more" on a driver. I have Mike's 264 single pattern/110 lobe sep in my 10.2:1 compression 200 with a manual trans in the Falcon, and it idles rough enough that I would not like it with an auto trans. The 112 lobe sep 264 would be a better choice. The cam pulls very hard though, and has no flat spot at all. As soon as it's above 1200 rpm it is making power.
I am using the cheap 302 valve springs from Mike and they fit and work very well.

After checking around , a common thickness on crushed head gaskets is .039 - .042 when talking about SBF or SBC engines.

I am told this thickness would be better for the quench area of the chamber.
