Question on intake plenum volume

I have a D8 head that is going under the "knife" to begin its transformation into a somewhat performance head (Well as much performance as a log head will let me).

My question is this.

IIRC the D8 log head has a intake log volume of about 1350cc's.

When figuring out plenum volume does a intake elbow like this get add to the intake plenum volume?

I think it adds to the total amount of volume after the carb (or throttle body) but I don't think it helps your cause very much. I generally assume that where the head transitions into the head for the turns into the valve/combustion chamber that all fordsix heads are about the same (I know the 144 is much smaller then the late 200's) but close enough for me. In my mind the intake/log volume speaks the the amount of air that can be moved from the carb opening to each individual runner from the log to the intake valve. So with the smaller plenum volume heads they move air faster with more restriction thent he later heads. If I see things correctly that adapter will just make the path longer between carb/throttle body and intake valve. Which may be good for low end torque but not so great for upper end RPMs.

just my .02 from a non-performance background. (i.e. take with grain of salt)
