Ok here's the deal...I have a 1974 maverick with a 65 200 in it...my car has the duraspark 1 with the small the dizzy cap...i was wondering if I could swap a bigger cap on to my current dizzy that way i could run a larger coil...or should i just upgrade to the DSII...napa seems to carry an "adapter"...not to sure what it is though....lol...thanks a lot everyone...i think this is my first post, wooohooo :D i've been doing a lot of reading over the past months before posting something...there's is just so much info here, i love it...thanks again for any replies

Most of this is based on reading and not actually tryin any of this myself so take it for what its worth.....

The way I understand it you should be able to buy the adaptor and the larger cap. That was the primary change between the DS1 and 2 along with a better module and the new style wires. You will also have to change all the wires since the larger has the male ends and the other has the female. You will need the proper rotor for the new cap.

You should not have to change any of that stuff to change your coil. Maybe on V8's you could get in trouble with high rpms and some crazy ignition system but from what I have read on the 6's its not a problem even with the smaller cap. The module may or may not be able to handle a larger coil but I think has the same plug as the DS2 one so its an easy swap. Look at the MSD and simalar high end ignitions, most of them have a cap about the size of the old fords and those are V8's with the closer spacing because of the extra terminals.

thanks for reply...i guess i'll just stick with my small cap and possibly run a larger coil down the road...
