How much horsepower can you free up if u have a electric pump on a 200? Also how much horse power can you free up with electric fans? Does anyone know some real specs?

Blunt answer: electric fuel pumps and roller rockers might get you two horsepower at the rpms a 200 will see. They are swapped for other reasons. Electric fuel pumps supply a larger volume of fuel at higher pressures without the risk of wiping the cam lobe, and roller rockers allow steeper cam profiles than flat tappet cams. IIRC, there isn't a full roller setup for our sixes anyhow, so the point is moot. The Yella Terra and other roller-tipped rocker arms (http://www.classicinlines.com) have a higher lift ratio, so they open the valves more. On a max effort mule, they'll free some horsepower, but there are easier and cheaper ways to get horsepower.

Electric fans might net you five or six horsepower, but it hasn't been conclusively proven how much power an engine-driven fan actually uses. Electric fans are better at cooling the engine when it needs it most: at idle. When running high speeds, more air is forced through the radiator than any feasible fan could generate, and the engine fan is just wasting horsepower.

The Yella Terra rockers are Full Rollers, the RAS rockers are roller tipped. there's a $200 diffrence in price, for a good reason. I bought the Yella Terra 1.65's, because I wanted the good stuff.

Thanks for the input. I have tried using a electric fan before 16". But I had no clearence for it. I have a 1962 ford falcon with a 200 and a 1995 ford ranger radiator, go figure! Anyways that was 4 years ago. I was wondering what radiators you all have with a early falcon that has a 200. Do you have the clearence for a electric fan?

I have seen electric fans that are very flat. I think we have about 2.75" between the pump nose and the radiator. I looked in PAW (performance auto warehouse) and found several with very flat profiles.

The moving fan actually blocks the airflow at speed. The electric will turn off and you more air. The buzz here is that if your cooling system is clean and not blocked in any way, you should be fine with a two row radiator, even in Arizona.

in regards to upgrading to a electric fuel pump, it would be worth it for more fuel. to free up horsepower, i'd say it would be a waste.i'd be suprised if the fuel pump took one HP.

at $100.00 per HP that would be a little pricey

A friend went to a bike shop and was asking about some lighter parts for his mountain bike. the clerk told him he'd be better off going on a diet

I've run my '26 Model T coupe drag car both with a stock belt driven water pump and with an electric pump.No difference whatsoever....same ET and MPH with either one. Some folks say they have gained with an electric but they are running higher rpm than I am,and much higher than a street engine will operate.
Now that diet that "grocery getter" was mentioning is another thing....... LOL

id say it isnt worth the troubles for a street car but for a drag car where you need every single horsepower it would be worth it
