 :D I just picked-up the motor form the machine shop. Man does it look clean. Now the fun of installing all the pieces back together. My question is how much assembly can I do before putting the motor back into the car and what should I wait on until the motor is in the engine bay? As a reminder, I have an entirle new ignition system, headers and carb. Also, I painted the water pump and need to re-install. Any tips on what pieces to put back on prior to dropping into the vehicle?

Thanks

Bob

When I dropped my engine in a few weeks ago, I just put the block in there and that made it easier for me to attach it back to the tranny. Then I my head and everything else on. I would put the starter on before the headers or you'll be in a mess.

Depends on how you are putting it in.

I used the head bolts (used ones) to lower the engine in. Because of that, I waited to install any components. Once the engine is in the car, it is real easy to put things back on. I wanted to keep it as easy as possible putting the engine back in.

I would think about pulling the tranny and putting the engine and tranny together before putting them in the car, it just makes it a lot easier then trying to get the transmission lined up with the engine and the engine withthe engine mounts.

definetly pull the tranni, it became a nightmare with me because I would have to secure when I moved the car then I had to drop it down when working in the engine compartment.
