I am planning on rebuilding my engine because one of the cylinders has very low compression and burning oil, one freeze plug leaks even after I just replaced it, the head is leaking and it srrting to run poorly. Anyway I found this place in Santa Ana called United Engines where I can get a rebuilt block with head for $595. This includes new pistons, rings, lifters, timing chain, main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, brass freeze plugs, oil pump, gaskets, reground crank, and a cam plus $500 for installation. My question is, Are there any fairly inexpensive things I can get done to the head that will boost performance? I am going to order the Pacemakers from FSPP. Is there anything not included in the engine rebuild that I should think about buying or replacing like maybe the harmonic balancer? I figure, since the engine is going to be out this should be the time to add performance to it. Does this place seem to be giving me a good deal? Thanks.
