Hey Guys,
Im goin to rebuild my motorcraft 1bbl but havent had much experience around carbs and was wondering how hard it was to rebuild or if it would be cheaper and less hassle to just but a new carb.
Thanks

Definitely rebuild it yourself.
Study a good article on carbureters, so you understand that they consist of separate circuits and components. Understand which circuit does what. After you do a couple of carbs, you'll wonder why you hesitated. :D
Purchase a can of carb/choke spray cleaner. Spray clean the outside of the carb thoroughly before removal. If you have access to a digital camera or camcorder, record the location of everything. Use masking tape to label averything you disconnect. Use ziplock bags to store every nut and bolt you remove. Make sure you have a clean surface to work on. Make sure you know what every part is, and which carb version you have, as there are variances. Check that the throttle shaft fits snugly in the throttle body. No slop. This is the only reason you should have to purchase a new or rebuilt carb.
Thoroughly study every step of reassembly as you disassemble. :?
Make sure you note where every part came from, specially the checkballs. Don't lose any balls!
Use the spray cleaner to clean every passage. Reassemble, carefully, slowly, and double check your work. Use Loctite on the screw threads, but do not overtighten, because the body is made of soft pot metal.
Reinstall, and adjust the choke and idle. Treat yourself to a bunch of beers with all the money you saved. :D
