gidday, anyone know how to remove the fan on an xf falcon?

im guessing its a left handed thread, looked through the manual and it says nothing

anyone?

cheers,

yeah, its a reverse thread..

what ya do, is get two screwdrivers, put one through the nuts on the pulley and jam it against something to stop it from moving.. altinator or something is a good place. If you've got a shifter thats big enough, then you can undo the nut holding the clutch fan to the water pump.. Otherwise, get another screwdriver and a hammer, and tap the nut holding the fan on in a clockwise direction..

Just a note, if you're going to store the fan, keep it nut-side up, or else the viscous goo inside it will leak out, and it wont clutch properly after that..

Have a look at a genuine ford manual... My XF book has a design for the tool that you use to hold the nuts (ie the water pump pulley) still and I think it may have the spanner pattern too...
