I pulled my Harmonic balancer and the rubber isolator was all brittle and cracked. Can you just buy the rubber seal or do I have to buy a whole new Harmonic balancer.

Exchange rebuilt balancer. That's the cheapest way. Dearest way is to buy the tasty ROMAC unit Az sells. Both have their place in the scheme of things.

The rubber is not a "seal", it's an isolator between the two rings and cannot be repaired at home. Best non-HiPo option other than a used one or a rebuilt from a local parts store is to contact Damper Doc in CA. He also regularly lists harmonic balancers on eBay.

If either the timing mark has demonstrably slipped, or the bonding rubber is visible deteriorated (oil can tend to rot them), it's time for action. This part rotates at engine speed, and the idea of it coming loose to play in your engine comparment at 4500 RPM is not one I like.

I think the cheap rebuilds are only like $25 or so. The ROMAC Mike sells was designed/made to order; it's an Australian part not available Down Under!

good rebuild are damper doctor...look up on internet

or evilbay.

Mike's parts are great new replacement if you want to spend money and have it done right
