simplest easiest way to turbo?

just out of curiosity what would be the simplest way to go about a forced induction set up and how much if anything could a stock(ish) engine handle?

I think that the simplest way would be to use an draw through M90 or something similar. Fabricated a few brackets, align your pulleys, bolt on and go.

A turbo isn't necessarily "easy." It is however fairly cost effective and straightforward. There are a few more things to take into consideration than with a positive displacement blower.

However, I haven't really gotten mine running right so I am not a super credible source. Yet.

That's probably true...

Except that with a centrifugal, you would have to do blow through and incur all the difficulties that go with it.

Draw through is most likely to be the most bolt on and go option.

As if there is one...

Simplest way? Wait till mike comes out with the kit, bolt on and go? =)

Other than that someone had that "original" supercharger for the Falcon, that may be the easiest.

That would probably be the simplest if it was complete. The 10,000 price tag would be an issue, though.

If you're taking simple to also mean reliable and readily achieved, I think it's reasonable to say that the "simplest" way will require other bridges crossing first.

In this sense, I mean quite possibly a conversion to EFI of some sort, and the skills developed to run that with 100% efficiency.

When the turbo is then (later) fitted rearranging of control parameters will be small beer by comparison, making this the "simplest" install.

I can't believe you guys.

I stop hanging around here and everyone forgets what I did with a bone-stock engine and blowing through the stock 1-bbl carb. That was about the cheapest set-up anyone has done, and went pretty fast, too.

SHAME on anyone suggesting the Eaton M90, getting that thing mounted to the point where it doesn't toss the belt off every 10 minutes is a machinists nightmare, if you could find such a person willing to tackle it. The only guy on here that did one runs a machine shop. Not many people have that resource.
EVERYTHING needs to be fabbed, including pulleys.

The only other way to possibly get cheaper is to rob the draw-through turbo/carb set-up from the VERY early 80's Buick 231 engines. But good luck finding a good set-up.....and that turbo is too small anyways. It was a sucky design then and it still sucks today.

I gotta agree with Addo.... efi is the future. You can make a carb work if you are stubborn and dedicated like me, but it isn't the BEST way.
But it sure was cheap!
