Would a small block fit in a ranger? I'm kinda curious on whether or not it would fit. I have heard of one fitting but the radiator was relocated In the Rad support, and maybe the firewall was notched back. I have a buddy who has a gutted Ranger and would one fit? LKike a small block 240?

there was a member here quite a while back that had a ranger with a 200 that he had installed in it, no clue what his member name was, search might dig him up though

but a 240 would be a lot more work than a 200, the 240 is in the big six family, there are some dimensions of a big block six in the FAQ in the 240-300 section (or there were last time i was here), might be able to get a tape measure and find out how big of a hammer you'd need to get it in there

relocate the radiator to the bed of the truck with an electric fan? seen it done before

Check also over at Prerunner.org IIRC there was someone over there who had done the swap.

I saw one at the local junk yard. The oil filter had to be relocated. I didn't realy look that close. It also had a fourbanger with trans in the bed so I doubt that it was ever finished.

I have a 250 in my garage right now awaiting a rebild and other misc parts that will be eventually going into my '97.

The oil filter would be in a similar position to the 302 once in the bay, I think even the same adapter will still work.

A 240 is almost like putting in a 300, and is moderately more difficult.

I'm putting in the 250 because it's torque will be nice with a pickup (and it's not that much larger than a 200. meaning that in this application the main concern is length), and I'm tired of the utter lack of torque the 4 banger has down low.
