Smog Kit

Hey all,

I've got a "67 with a smog kit attached. Can I remove the kit completely? What other modifications will I need to perform after removing the kit?

Thanks.

Yeah, I took out the smog set up on my '66 last summer. I just removed the pump and a bunch of hoses and vacuum wires. Then sealed all the bolt holes in the block with the original blocks with some lock-tite applied to the threads. It was an afternoon project and I didn't really know what I was doing at the time; I just wanted all that crap out of there. I didn't really notice much of a difference in performance but the engine looks a hell of a lot better!

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I was thinking with the bolts/lock-tite application. Sorry to hear it didn't improve the performance but I am looking forward to cleaning up the engine compartment by getting rid of the stupid thing. Once again, thanks for the reply.
