Looking at where the alternator mounts and the direction it needs to pull (away from the water pump) you may have a hard time getting the belt to tighten enough; that alternator is going to put a lot of strain on a v-belt.
My thoughts here are:
1. Can the pump be left in place and still use the auxiliary Davies pump? It seems a possibility, and looking on the Davies site this can be done
2. Pull the impeller off the pump and use it as an idler assembly? Looking on the Davies site you can do this also.
3. Make a block-off that will have a idler to go in place of the water pump
