Solid Lifter For Cam Degree

I have never seen a solid lifter and I only own hydraulic lifters. Do you think for the purpose of degreeing the cam could I install a hydraulic lifter upside down to get the same effect of a solid lifter?

Turning it upside down wont allow a solid face to contact the lobe and you also wont have a pushrod cup surface to allow for the pushrod to seat into it.

I pulled out the guts of an old hydraulic lifter and welded a rod into it works great.
