Stumbling issues again. Pictures of my setup

Hi,

Dude here...still having problems, in fact, more problems are popping up then I have time or money to take care of. (1968 200ci/HW 2bbl 32/36 series)

I have a dual advance distributor:

The green vacuum hose leads to the distributor vacuum control. There are three prongs on it, as you can see, its attached to the closest one. That is the way the mechanic set it up for me. He could not get rid of the stumbling. It occurs more at higher RPM's now. Nothing is hooked to the carb except the PCV hose. There is nothing connected to the vacuum tube, in the back of the carb, above the air mixture screw. Is there anything that is obviously wrong with this setup? I've been told before, that I can completely bypass the DVC. If the car was running, I'd like to see what would happen if I hooked that hose up to the vacuum tube on the carburetor. The mechanic also said that my plug wires aren't the best for the setup. I have 7mm Bosch plug wires that say "Ultra Premium Opti Layer Mag Core" on them. I have a 40,00 volt Flamethrower coil and Pertronix electronic ignition.

That setup is definitely wrong- you have no vacuum advance (the outer nipple) hooked up at all and you have the retard engaged (through the thermostatic delay switch, but still engaged when the engine is warm). You should connect a single vacuum hose from the ported vacuum port on the H/W to the outer nipple on the dizzy. Remove the hose from the retard side, and plug it at the thermostatic delay switch. This will greatly improve your power, cruising smoothness,and mileage. If the engine has been tuned with this bad hose arrangement, you will likely need to reset the timing as well. And find another mechanic...

Thanks for the response. I'll try that as soon as I get the transmission pan gasket worked out (pan might be warped) and upgrade my fan setup. The shop I took it to is run by a guy who's got a classic ('64 satellite I think). I met him through a friend at work who's husband has a '79 Mustang Pace Car. He didn't work on my car though. In the mechanic's defense, my setup is pretty screwy. :roll: That's why I never take it to a mechanic in the first place...if the Mustang gets screwed up I like it to at least be my fault.
