Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and was hoping someone might be able to help me out.

I'm a high school power auto teacher and I have my 66 mustang in the shop and am restoring it with the kids. They really love it, and have really taken some ownership to it.

I have a parts car with a straight 6 (can't kill em) that sat for 10 years, that with a set of points, and oil change, and a little freeing up of the carb, fired right up... so that one went in my stang.

My orignal motor is being worked on by a couple kids with hopes of making it complete to keep with the car.... problem is they lost 2 of the little U shapped keeper springs that hold the lifters together.

I was hoping by some crazy chance smebody might have some old lifters laying arround and they could just throw 2 or 3 clips in an envelop.

Why don't you post your location, like put it in the profile. I have a whole head I'd be willing to part with but it's not worth paying the shipping if you only need a couple of clips. Others might be near by and can help out in different ways.

I have a box of old lifters from my 200. PM me your address and I'll send you some. But, if funds allow, I would bite the bullet and install some new lifters if you have the engine apart.

This is the place that you may be able to find plenty of help in bringing some young intrest to our hobby. These motors are great to learn on.
Post your address. I have a few old lifters around that I will be glad to send you.

Line up every kid in that shop class, and inspect their body piercings. Your missing keepers are probably installed through several eyebrows or noses. Hopefully, nowhere more obscure!

the piercings are so true...lol and I would buy all new lifters if this was the one going in the car, but its the one for the kids to work on...

and wut r ur plans for the motor cause the people here are very knowledgeable and will be able to help u out in anyway they can and we love to see new ideas brought into the mix

the kids with the piercings most of the time aren't afraid to get dirty and scrape their knuckles. like me for example. i have stretched earlobes lip piercings stretched tongue and all that good stuff. i wasn't in autoshop but i had 5th period dismissal and i spend my free time helping the kids out in autoshop. since i was the only person besides the teacher that had experience. and my fellow pin cushions were the first ones to jump in and get dirty. their good kids. just don't think they are bad kids because the way they look. i still have all my piercings, i just have alot more tattoos now. sorry, i know this doesn't help you any but it just brought back good memories.

I'm probly a lot older then you but the way I look at it is that it is the job of youth to rebel against the norms of the previous gen's norms as we get calcified and need to be shook up, that's how social progress gets made, by rubbing ideas together till we get some kind of agreement. When I was in high school long hair on men was taboo, the asistant dean actually told me it was insobordination to grow long side burns. I remember reading someware that people with tatoos dont care if I don't have any so why should I object if they do. I am not into body adornment but thats just me, ain't freedome great. don't ever change because some one tries to force you.

very true. i will never change for anyone. luckily the career path i have chosen, piercings and tattoos are exceptable. it's true that people with tattoos and piercings will not look down on people that choose not to have them. i didn't do it for rebellion i did it because of interest in the art because i had no reason to rebel because my mom said "i am glad you found something you are interested in, i am just glad you are not into drugs"
