gday all im back, formerly the rice racer recker, and before that smythee from perth.
the xf is still going and is going to stay a six banger i have decided. i want to rebuild it as a turbo (TO4 ) what cam , carby, rods, pistons ect are ideal.
i was thinking 465 4barrel, low compression ACL pistons , i am thinking that i will keep rods from a 4.1 as i dont want it to rev all that high, i just want shâ„¢tloads of torque out of the old beast and was thinking it needs compression of around 7.8 to 8.5 is that about right for a turbo.
i was just going to fit a crow turbo cam whatever the number is and get a new balanced crank, dual row timing chain, obviously i will need to get the thing graphed and dyno tuned? and was thinking of getting the head ported as well ? is it worth porting the head. what other items do i need to consider? wastegate thing? i was only going to run lowish boost. a timer ect
i dont know much about turbos and the only book i can find on it is bloody old and doenst have garett turbos in it so any information to setting one up and stuff like diagrams and plumbing would be useful, my dad is a fitter/turner/welder mechanic and i can get him to do all my welding and manifolding but i want to do all my own research and build the engine up myself.
i only want to set it up for the torque and to cruise down the highway at 1800 rpm and have good pulling power off that and up to that.
