turbo question.

Please pardon my ignorance but I was just curious about ford turbos. Is the turbo in the thurderbird turbo coupe the same as the one in the svo mustang or not? Cuz I was gonna grab one of those and try out my turbo setup before putting on my garrett t4 ( which i have yet to recieve from Linc).

IIRC there are 2 diff turbos on TC SVO and XR4ti. they came with ihi turbos and garrett T3.

Also, I believe the automatic cars had a smaller turbo than the stick shift cars.

The turbo's are the same size, but the exhaust housings were different. Different A/R.
IIRC the two A/Rs were .48 and .63. Look for the larger one if you're going to use it on a I6.

IIRC 87- 88 Turbo Coupe's used a smaller IHI turbo and were considered too small for a 2.3L engine so are not a good choice for our I6's.

the 83-86 Turbo Coupes and Mustangs used a T3 turbo. IIRC 83-84 cars used a integral wastegate.

all ford used garetts are internal gated.

svo's were the only to have a round, hose connection outlet.

turbines can be swapped between them all.

the smaller turbine housing will spool faster but give some restriction up top.

I actually did write to Linc and then that same day (as if he read my mind or something) he messaged me and said that he was gonna send it when he could. Well I messaged back and thats the last I have heard from him. I will be sending him that letter on monday though, cuz I think that 2+ months is long enough to wait for something that could have been here in a week.

Yep still dont have it, and I have no contact with him because he hasnt checked his messages on the forum in 2 months. I dont have his email nor his phone number, so all I have is his address. (Its not his address actually but a PO box) So I am feeling more and more like I've been ripped off. Hopefully there is a reason for the huge delay, but who knows. I usually try and hope in the good nature of people. I am not at a point where I need the turbo yet since the new engine is not competely swaped in and since I dont really have all of the other parts (still need fuel pump, pressure regualtor and wastegate).

Well anyways I am tired and fed up with waiting for a turbo that is unlikely to arrive anyways. I am seriously pissed off at the fact that a person doesnt keep his end of a deal like this, but thats life. Its been two weeks since I sent the letter to Linc and no answer. I wish I could know for sure that he didnt rip me off, but I cant. No email, no phone number to call, no way to contact him. The turboforums.com search showed the he hasnt been on there just as long as he hasnt shown up on this forum. So i dont know what else to do now. I am gonna scrape together some money to buy another turbo, (and hopefully no get ripped off in the process) and keep on with my project.

yeah, me either. I got ripped for a couple hundred bucks on ebay once.

Ironically, buying a turbo... lol
