upgrade time

Naughty, naughty boy. {Que mock sarcasm tinged with Envy} With all the other mods you've done, that could cause some serious performance issues

i plan on building an exhaust system like falcon fanatics, it will have long runners coming out of the header to a Y pipe then to the muffler, im sure the timing chain will be the best upgrade since my current chain is so worn out, i think whoever rebuilt this engine just did the rings, cam and bearings, oil pump was old, chain is old and water pump was old, im thinking of wraping the header to help cool the intake

wrapping up the headers...

I tried that once, I have found on longer drives the engine is warmer/hotter than if I keep them UN-wrapped. IMO I think for longer drives the no wrapping is better, but for track racing it helps a lot. Or maybe I did it wrong, or maybe it's the 115* heat we get in the summer that fries everything anyways...

Sounds good

Are you doing any thing else inside the engine?

after a while, when i get a 2nd car, ill pull the engine and have everything internaly balanced, i will also have the block decked to give me 10-1 comp, i think that is the most comp i can run on 91 oct with a cast iron head if i remember correctly, i will also have it powder coated, i think thats about all i can do to keep it street friendly, as for the trans, i will upgrade the H servo to a PA pro shift, install kevlar bands and extra clutches

I would consider maybe having the thing ceramic coated - send it somewhere reputable that can coat it inside and out. The inside - especially - will help keep exhaust heat *inside* the header, and will provide the most benefit to the intake. I've done this on several turbo manifolds, and the results are always positive.

I used these guys last time:

and was extremely happy with the work. I'm thinking about a CI header for the 200 going in my '62 shortly, and if i can swing the cash for it I'll definitely send it up to Washington to have it coated.
