got my car running finally with no leaks...pulled it out of the garage, don't have my vacuum hose from tranny to carb hooked up.... car runs a little rough at idle, but when i put it in gear it won't run without me giving it some gas....then when it's in gear it's kinda struggling to keep running....does the vacuum have that much to do with this?????? i have the module on the tranny, and see a little hole at the botton of the carb on the passengers side which looks like i could screw something in to hook the vacuum their i think??? is that where i should be hooking it too??? it's right next to the hose that comes out which goes into the top of the valve cover.... what do i get to screw into that hole to connect the vacuum too??? does it look like the module that is in the back of the tranny???? trying to get the parts and don't know what they look like...thanks for the help.....

The modulator has to be hooked up. With an open line the engine will suck in enough air to run very badly at idle. And it will not shift properly.

There is a steel line that connects to the manifold. It is connected by a short lenght of hose to a steel line near the top front of the transmission. This stee line runs to the back passenger side to the transmission. Another short length of hose connects the steel line to the modulator, a small cylindrical device about 1.5" in diameter.

now....i have the rubber hose that connects to the steel line....do i have to use steel line??? people have told me to just run the rubber hose all the way up to the manifold or carb, whereever i can put a vacuum fitting to supply the modulator.... just trying to find the best place to hook up the vacuum for the tranny....where in the manifold would there be a vacuum hook up??? can i use the threaded plug on the intake LOG below the carb for the vacuum?????

You can use "rubber hose" but it must be vacuum line. That basically means it won't collapse inwards under suction. Fuel line would probably work OK. Why not pick up the steel piece and be done with it?

should just do it the right way... Now just have to find where to hook the thing up???
