valve adjustment?

Just a quick question-I have two different manuals that have two different ways to do it. I have the new lifters in the engine and have to set the initial cold setting. Is it a half turn after the slop is gone from the pushrod or is it one full turn? I had to take the valve cover off (leak) before I fired for the first time and something told me double check the adjustment. I would have fired the engine had it not been for a defective valve cover gasket... thanx everyone

8) i usually use a 1/2 turn after i have eliminated all vertical movement of the pushrod.
