I just bought a new Cardone water pump from checker auto. I matched it all up before installing it and everything looked ok except for the "made in Japan" label on the side. (I was told it was made in USA and after ordering it in I thought I'd just use it)

Anyway, I got it all installed and went to put on the pulley/fan blade. the depth of the new pump is 1" shorter than the original, so my pulley will not even come close to fitting.

Does anyone know if there are different depth pulleys used on these things?

You got a pump that is shorter than the original? How long is it ?

IIRC, there are two length WP's for the 200. However, as I understand it, your original should have bee the shorter of the two.

Some models had different pulleys on the water pumps. I know that to use my setup on my '65 with a '70 block, we used the pulley from the '70 maverick instead of the '65 mustang pulley. They might've given you the wrong pump. =D

this one is about 3 7/8" depth vs the stock one was about 4 7/8" deep. I think I'm going to get a different pump. I am having thoughts about being able to fit an electric fan in there instead if I keep this pump though. Stock pulley doesnt leave any room between it and the radiator.
