I have the Weber 38 DGAS carb on a 1968 200/ inline 6. I had some machine work done to the motor, port and polish, spin balanced, installed an Australian head with roller rockers, installed an Isky cam-shaft and a port divider. The specs on the cam are:
Grind: 262
Lobe Center: 109
(Intake) Cam lift: .290
(Intake) Valve Lift: .465
(Exhaust) Cam Lift: .290
(Exhaust) Valve Lift: .465
I have not been able to get the motor to idle and the motor will only run if I have the gas pedal 3/4s to the floor. When I inspected the carb and intake after operation, I found a large puddle of fuel in the base of the intake. I figure I am flooding due to the cam-shaft (or so I was told). To correct this, I have purchased a Weber Jet kit. The carb has not been modified in any way, so I am running the stock jets. I have a 45 idle jet and 185 air corrector jet. Should I go up a size in just the idle jet. ( I do not think going up in idle jet will help me with this since it is flooding.) Should I go up in the air corrector jet size?
I tried to adjust my float today. I figured that if the motor keeps flooding out, maybe the floats are not set to match my motor. I raised the tab on it a couple of mm and put it all back together. I now can not get the motor to rev beyond 1000 rpm. UGH!!!!
Any suggestions?
Ted
