whats next

just got an export brace for xmas and the brake were done just before i bought the car. new drums, brake cylinders, got the recipt for like 800$ of work lol good thing the PO did it. it doesnt have much of a stopping problem more of a going problem lol...i remember reading that someone never got there manual drums to lock up...i did right in front of a deer, stopped 6 inch from it

Man, you just need to concentrate on looking good first - but that's just my opinion.  :D

No matter how good the ride runs, if you don't like the looks you will never be happy with your classic. Or, just stick with one avenue and then progress from there. Don't jump around from body to engine or vice versa. You'll get a better sense of accomplishment when you see progress going in a single direction. It will take time, but stick with it!

I vote: Bigger Carb!!! :D

With the ignition and exhaust taken car of, now its time to take care of the intake side of the motor. Sounds like either a larger single barrel or maybe a 2V with an adapter should be next. Sounds like you want to stick with the bolt-on route for now 8) .

Just remember the 3Cs of Performance: Camshaft, Carbs, and Compression.

Chris has the right approach in my opinion.

Get the outside looking decent (not sure of your condition). That's what I did first. It's not great, but it looks decent going down the street.

Then, pick something else. I did (and still doing) drivetrain right now. Once that's done, I'll go back to the body, then interior.

well the inside of my car is done; carpet is new seats and headliner are original (headliner has a few small rips) and my sound system is complete, the exterior was done then got hit but she be back better than before with new rear bumper and maybe a new coat of paint. so now im down to wheels and the engine. and accelerating is more important than the wheels. im happy with the bolt on route, being 17 i dont have much extra cash for a head now but during summer i will, but im hoping the future brings a 2v and perhaps a paxton...yes im jealous of mustangroo...
you guys think 2v and adaptor is the way to go now?

Hey, going fast is lookin good! (but maybe that's just my old street racing backround talkin :) )

You said you brakes have already been done, I'd say as long as your front end (suspension / steering) are in good shape then I'd progress to doing stuff to your motor. As suggested, the 1" front sway bar makes quite a difference in how the car handles, and is pretty inexpensive as well.

so sway bar and carb, what carb? holley 350? with the adaptor is there any hood clearance issues? hopefully i can still use my new K&N

If you are looking for better fuel economy out of a 2 BBL carburetor then I would go with a Weber 32/36. But, if that's not a big concern then a Holley 350 would be a very good chose.

As far as hood clearance is concerned, it could be an issue. If you buy the adapter from Clifford Performance than it shouldn't be a problem at all. What type of K&N filter are you planning on using?

-Chris

im looking for performance over fuel economy so i guess ill go with the holley. last time i was at MU i saw they had an adaptor for sale for like 50 bucks, so i think ill pick that one up. i was hopeing to use the K&N that i have now, like 10x2ish what ever fits in the stock i barrel air cleaner

well ill keep this in mind but now i have to put the plans on hold, shop just called and needs 600 bucks to replace the wheel housing which they found to be rotting when they took the mangled quarter off the car
